1 Injured in Kolkata Residential Blast; 3 Detained as NIA Launches Probe

Kolkata: A powerful explosion inside a rented room in the Rajarhat area of Kolkata left one person injured on Friday, triggering a major security response. Police have detained three individuals for questioning, while the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has begun investigating the incident.

According to preliminary reports, an unidentified man was seen entering the residential building carrying a white jute bag. He allegedly placed the bag inside one of the rented rooms and left the premises. Within minutes, a loud explosion ripped through the room, causing panic among residents and damaging parts of the building.

The injured person was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police immediately cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. Initial findings suggest that the explosion was caused by a crude bomb, though forensic teams are examining the scene to determine the exact nature of the explosive.

With the involvement of the NIA, investigators are exploring all possible angles, including the source of the explosive material and the motive behind the blast. Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage from the area and questioning the detained individuals to establish the sequence of events.

Further investigation is underway, and officials are expected to provide more details as the probe progresses.
