Delhi , 10 Nov : A powerful explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday evening killed 13 people and injured more than 30 others, triggering panic and a massive security response. The blast took place inside a parked car near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station around 6:50 pm, setting nearby vehicles on fire. Firefighters and police rushed to the scene, and the area was immediately cordoned off.

Officials at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital confirmed eight deaths and said several others were seriously injured. "Fifteen victims were brought to the hospital; eight were declared dead before arrival. Three are in critical condition," said Dr. B.L. Chaudhary, Medical Superintendent of LNJP Hospital.
The explosion caused a major blaze, damaging multiple vehicles and spreading chaos in the busy Old Delhi area. Over 20 fire tenders were deployed to control the fire, while teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), National Security Guard (NSG), and Delhi Police conducted forensic examinations at the site.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited LNJP Hospital late in the evening and later inspected the blast site. Speaking to reporters, Shah said, "We are investigating all possible angles. It is premature to say what caused the blast until reports from forensic and bomb disposal teams are received."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences and said the government is closely monitoring the situation. “Condolences to those who lost their loved ones. Reviewed the situation with Home Minister Amit Shah and senior officials,” the PM posted on X.
High alerts were issued across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Bihar following the incident. Security checks were intensified at major public places, metro stations, and bus terminals.

While the authorities have not confirmed any terror link, reports suggested that the arrest of two individuals earlier in the day with explosives in Faridabad has prompted investigators to explore all possibilities.

Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha said, "The car was moving slowly when it stopped at a red light near the Red Fort Metro Station. An explosion occurred inside the vehicle, damaging others nearby. All agencies are working together to identify the cause."
Political leaders across parties expressed shock and demanded a thorough investigation. AAP leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Atishi urged authorities to ensure public safety and uncover the cause, while Congress leader Pawan Khera called for a swift and transparent probe into the tragedy.
