22-Year-Old Sahil Rai sacrifice his Life to Save Friend at Mirik Lake

A heart-wrenching incident occurred at Mirik Lake on Laxmi Puja night, October 20, 2025.22-year-old Sahil Rai, a resident of Thurbo LD Bahadur Gaon, lost his life while saving his friend Sadip Darjee, from Mirik Bazar who allegedly attempted suicide by drowning in the lake. Sahil Rai bravely jumped into the water to rescue his friend, and in a tragic turn of events, he went missing. Despite his own life being at risk, Sahil managed to save Sadip's life.

The friend is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Siliguri. After an extensive search operation, Sahil Rai's body was recovered and brought to Mirik BPHC. The news of his sacrifice has sent shockwaves through the local community, with villagers praising him as a good person who was always willing to help others.
