Bail Jump Sparks Shock: Repeat NDPS Accused Nabbed Again with Suspected Brown Sugar in Namchi Raid
Singtam, 20 Feb : Namchi Police have arrested a 40-year-old repeat offender after reportedly seizing a large amount of suspected brown sugar during a raid at Adarsh Goan on Wednesday.
Acting on specific tips, police officials carried out an operation that led to the arrest of Ningma Sherpa, who lives in the area. Sources confirmed that he was previously out on bail in a case filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Singtam Police Station.
Investigators found that Sherpa has a history of involvement in multiple narcotics cases under the NDPS Act, with earlier cases recorded at both Singtam and Temi police stations. Even after securing bail in a previous case, he was again found with suspected drugs.
Following this latest seizure, police opened a new case under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act at Temi Police Station. Authorities have started a thorough investigation to trace the source of the seized substance and to see if the accused has ties to a larger drug distribution network in the area.
Police officials emphasized their commitment to increasing efforts against narcotics-related activities to tackle the rising issue of drug abuse and illegal trafficking.
