Drugs Worth Crores Seized by Siliguri Police

Acting on credible source information, a plain cloth team of Matigara Police Station conducted a raid on the evening of July 27, 2026, at a rented room located on Brindaban Road, Salbari, under the jurisdiction of Matigara Police Station, Dist.- Darjeeling.

During the operation, two persons, namely i) Saurav Sharma (32 years), a resident of Sinchel Road, Jorebunglow, Darjeeling, and ii) Swaraj Rai (20 years), a resident of Pushumbing Tea Estate, Saragaon, Jorebunglow, Darjeeling, were apprehended. During the search, the police recovered and seized approximately 1.590 kilograms of brown sugar, two Android mobile phones, and one backpack from their exclusive possession.

A case has been registered at Matigara Police Station under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. All procedures relating to search, seizure, and arrest were carried out strictly in accordance with the provisions of the NDPS Act. Further investigation is underway.
