Historic Three-Way Talks Set in UAE as Zelensky Pushes for Peace

TVS Report, 23 Jan : Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that representatives from Ukraine, the United States and Russia will take part in a rare trilateral meeting in the United Arab Emirates later this week, aimed at advancing negotiations to bring an end to the ongoing war.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, President Zelenskyy said the discussions are scheduled for Friday and Saturday and will mark the first occasion since the conflict began that all three sides will participate in a common forum. The announcement followed his bilateral meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, after which American envoys traveled to Moscow for talks with Russian officials.

Zelenskyy expressed cautious optimism over the proposed meeting, stating that although the finer details are still being worked out, the talks represent a move toward more direct dialogue. He also urged Russia to show a willingness to compromise, stressing that meaningful progress depends on cooperation from all parties.

The Ukrainian President further explained that the meeting will focus on technical and working-level discussions, but could help generate momentum for broader peace efforts. While officials have not yet revealed the exact format or composition of the delegations, Zelenskyy said any opportunity for engagement is better than continued deadlock.

The planned trilateral talks come amid sustained diplomatic activity across international platforms and ongoing global efforts to find a lasting solution to the Ukraine conflict.
