Minor Girl Recovered, Accused Arrested in Alleged Kidnapping Case

Siliguri Police Commissionerate has made a significant breakthrough in an alleged kidnapping case involving a minor girl.

On August 25, 2026, Matigara Police Station received a complaint alleging that the complainant’s 17-year-old daughter had been allegedly kidnapped by Suraj Kumar Barui on August 24 and taken to an unknown location. A case was subsequently registered, and the investigation was assigned to ASI Balaram Roy.

As part of the investigation, the police team analysed Call Detail Records (CDR), tower locations and other source-based information to trace the movements of the accused and locate the minor girl.

Acting on the leads gathered during the investigation, ASI Balaram Roy, along with a police team, conducted a raid in Koltha, Bihar, on August 26. The operation resulted in the safe recovery of the minor girl and the arrest of the accused.

Siliguri Police Commissionerate stated that it remains committed to protecting the safety and security of children and taking prompt legal action in cases involving offences against minors.
