Mystery Death in Sombaria: Father Held After Son Found Dead at Home
Sombaria, May 2: A 38-year-old man was found dead under suspicious circumstances at his residence in Lower Thambong, prompting a police investigation and the arrest of his father.
According to police sources, the incident came to light around 7:20 AM on May 2, when Tika Hang Subba was discovered lying in his bedroom in a pool of blood. The discovery was made by his younger brother, Budhi Raj Subba, who noticed bloodstains along the staircase before finding the body inside the room.
Preliminary findings suggest that a confrontation had taken place the previous evening between the deceased and his father, Man Bahadur Subba. During the altercation, the deceased allegedly assaulted his father, causing a head injury. The father reportedly left the house following the incident and returned later, by which time the victim was not seen.
Police were alerted soon after the body was found. Teams from the State Forensic Science Laboratory and CID reached the scene to collect evidence. An inquest was carried out by the SDM of Soreng in the presence of witnesses. The body has been sent to STNM Hospital in Gangtok for post-mortem examination.
The father, who has denied any involvement in the death, has been taken into custody. Authorities have not yet recovered any weapon linked to the crime.
Police said that further investigation is underway to establish the exact sequence of events.
