Neighbour Arrested for Allegedly Making Improper Proposal to Minor

Siliguri: A man has been arrested by the New Jalpaiguri Police Station for allegedly making an inappropriate proposal to a minor girl. The arrested accused has been identified as Bijoy Roy (40), a resident of Shantipara.

According to the complaint, the minor knew the accused and used to address him as “Dadu” (grandfather). Taking advantage of this familiarity, Roy allegedly made inappropriate proposals to the girl on multiple occasions.

After the minor informed her family members about the alleged incidents, they lodged a written complaint at the New Jalpaiguri Police Station.

Acting on the complaint, police conducted a raid on Thursday night and arrested Bijoy Roy. He was subsequently produced before the Jalpaiguri court on Friday. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
