Gangtok, July 7: The National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL) has announced a temporary daily closure of a section of NH-10 at 20th Mile Bardang Near ATTC College to carry out emergency repair work and ensure the safety of drivers.
According to an office order from the Highway Administrator, the affected section will be closed to all vehicles from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on the following dates:
Day 1 - July 11, 2026 (Saturday)
Day 2 - July 12, 2026 (Sunday)
Day 3 - July 13, 2026 (Monday)
The closure is necessary due to ongoing emergency repairs. Authorities expect traffic congestion and safety risks during this time.
To reduce inconvenience, NHIDCL has provided alternative routes for drivers. The NH-717A corridor via Rangpo, Rorathang, Pakyong, and Ranipool will remain open to all vehicles during the closure.
Additionally, Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) travelling between Singtam and Rangpo can use the Duga–Pendam Road as an alternate route.
NHIDCL has asked the district administration to arrange traffic management for the smooth movement of vehicles on the diversion routes. Motorists are advised to plan their travel in advance and cooperate with traffic personnel to avoid delays during the closure.
