President Droupadi Murmu conferred Shaurya Chakra upon Havildar Prakash Tamang, The 9th Gorkha Rifles (attached to 32 Rashtriya Rifles)
During the ensuing firefight with the terrorists, despite sustaining a gunshot wound to his right thigh, he displayed unwavering gallantry and rare courage under intense enemy fire. With complete disregard for his personal safety, he closed in on the fleeing terrorist and neutralized one terrorist at a close range.
