Rasakhowa Outpost Police Crack Down on Illegal Lottery Trade, One Arrested

Karandighi: Police from Rasakhowa Outpost under Karandighi block have launched a crackdown on the illegal lottery trade, arresting a युवक with a large quantity of allegedly illegal lottery tickets.

Acting on complaints about the sale and distribution of illegal lottery tickets in the area, a police team led by the officer-in-charge of Rasakhowa Outpost intensified surveillance across different parts of Rasakhowa.

Based on a tip-off, police conducted a raid in the Maheshpur area, where one person was allegedly caught red-handed. According to police sources, several illegal lottery tickets were recovered from his possession. The estimated market value of the seized tickets is around Tk 81,000.

The police action has created a stir in the area. Local sources claim that illegal lottery activities have allegedly been operating in different parts of Rasakhowa for some time. Concerns have also been raised that such activities are financially affecting sections of the public, particularly young people.

Rasakhowa Outpost police have reiterated that illegal lottery sales and gambling-related activities will not be tolerated in the area. Police said legal action would be taken against anyone found involved in the sale, promotion or operation of illegal lottery activities.

Local residents have welcomed the police initiative, saying that continued action against illegal lottery and gambling activities could help curb related criminal activities in the area.

Police are expected to continue surveillance and enforcement measures against illegal lottery operations in Rasakhowa and surrounding areas.
