Siya Goyal Flashes Middle Finger At Media As Police Take Her To Pune Residence, Rehearsal Spot Identified In Lohagad Murder Case
Murder accused Siya Goyal made an obscene gesture at media personnel on Thursday as Pune Rural Police escorted her out of her residence in the Market Yard area of Pune. A 17 second video shared by a news agency showed Goyal, dressed in a black T shirt with a printed scarf covering her face, raising her middle finger at reporters and camera persons while being taken away by the police team.
Goyal, along with her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary, is accused of murdering her fiance, Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal, by pushing him off a cliff at Lohagad Fort on June 18. The two were scheduled to marry in November.
In a significant development, police on Thursday took Goyal to a location in Pune's Lullanagar area where she and Chaudhary allegedly rehearsed the act of pushing Agarwal off a cliff before the actual murder. According to investigators, the duo had practised the act at a hillock near a club in Lullanagar in May, and Goyal identified the exact spot during Thursday's visit.
Police have also approached the Vadgaon Maval court seeking permission to conduct polygraph tests on Goyal, aged 20, and Chaudhary, aged 22. Under Indian law, a lie detector test can be conducted only with the consent of the accused and the approval of the court.
During the search of Goyal's residence, investigators recovered the clothes she allegedly wore on the day of the incident. Police said substantial technical and digital evidence has been collected and is being analysed and cross verified.
Earlier this week, investigators recreated the crime scene separately with both accused. During the reconstruction with Goyal on Sunday, a dummy was pushed off the cliff in her presence. According to the police, the alleged motive was that Agarwal had become an obstacle in Goyal's relationship with Chaudhary. In his complaint, Ketan's father Vishal Agarwal stated that his son had repeatedly raised concerns about Goyal's closeness with Chaudhary. Investigators also said Goyal had earlier cancelled the couple's planned pre wedding trip to Bali.
Both accused remain in police custody as the investigation continues.
