Tomato prices jump more than 20% : Reports
The average retail price of tomatoes rose to 43.7 per kg on Wednesday, up 24% from a year earlier, reported Financial Express, citing the price monitoring cell of the Department of Consumer Affairs.
Prices have also increased 26% over the past month. The price surge is driven by heat waves and erratic monsoon rains that disrupted supply chains.
