Traffic Restrictions Announced in Pakyong District on February 4 for SKM Party Foundation Day Event
The Pakyong District Police have issued a traffic movement restriction order to ensure smooth vehicular flow and avoid public inconvenience during the 14th Foundation Day celebration of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) Party, scheduled to be held on February 4, 2026, at Rangpo Playground.
As per the order issued by the Senior Superintendent of Police, Pakyong District, under Section 159(2) of the Sikkim Police Act, 2008, the movement of heavy vehicles will remain completely prohibited along the Singtam–Rangpo and Rangpo–Rorathang highways from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM on the day of the event.
Additionally, light vehicles plying along the Rangpo–Kumrek–Rorathang highway will be allowed to move only in the downhill direction from Rorathang to Rangpo during the same period. The route will operate under a one-way traffic system to effectively manage congestion and ensure public safety.
The police have appealed to commuters, transport operators, and the general public to cooperate with the traffic regulations and plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
Adequate traffic personnel will be deployed at strategic locations to regulate vehicular movement and assist the public.
