Tragedy at 29th Mile: Two Killed, Two Injured After Car Plunges into Teesta River on NH10
Siliguri, 13 Feb : A devastating road accident in the early hours of Friday claimed two lives at 29th Mile along National Highway 10 (NH10). The mishap occurred between 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. when a vehicle reportedly lost control and fell into the Teesta River.
Sources revealed that the Innova was en route to Sikkim from the Dooars in West Bengal to attend a wedding ceremony. During the journey, the driver is believed to have lost control of the vehicle, causing it to skid off the roadway and plunge down a steep gorge into the river below.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene soon after the incident. Officials confirmed that two occupants were pronounced dead, while the remaining two sustained injuries. The injured individuals have been admitted to a nearby medical facility and are currently receiving treatment.
Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Further information is expected as inquiries continue.
