TRAI Reportedly Introduces 30-Day Validity and Voice-and-SMS-Only Recharge Plans
Prepaid mobile users in India may soon get more flexible recharge options under the reported Telecom Consumer Protection (Thirteenth Amendment) Regulations, 2026.
According to a LatestLY report citing The Times of India, telecom operators will be required to offer Special Tariff Vouchers with validity periods of 30 days or less, providing an alternative to the common 28-day recharge cycle.
Operators must also reportedly introduce monthly vouchers that renew on the same calendar date. If that date is unavailable in a particular month, renewal will shift to the month’s final day.
The framework is also said to require dedicated voice-and-SMS-only plans across different validity periods for users who do not need mobile data.
However, the report states that supporting official confirmation was unavailable. The information should therefore be treated as unconfirmed pending a formal TRAI notification.
