US Strikes Iran After Drone Attack on Apache Helicopter Escalates Gulf Tensions

Washington, June 10: Tensions between the United States and Iran intensified sharply after American forces carried out retaliatory strikes on Iranian military targets following the downing of a US Army Apache helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz.

According to reports, the helicopter was hit by an Iranian drone during a patrol mission. Both American pilots were rescued safely, but the incident prompted a swift response from Washington.

US forces subsequently targeted Iranian radar systems, air defence installations and control facilities in what officials described as a proportional military action. President Donald Trump reportedly approved the strikes after receiving assessments from senior military commanders.

Iran, meanwhile, warned of retaliation and claimed the helicopter incident was not intentional. The latest confrontation has further strained already fragile efforts aimed at reducing hostilities in the region.

The Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most critical oil transit routes, remains at the centre of growing security concerns as fears of a wider conflict continue to mount.
