Youth's Body Found in Jalpaiguri, Murder Suspected After Alleged Drinking Session

Jalpaiguri, August 14: A 25-year-old youth was found dead in a secluded area near the Teesta Railway Bridge in Jalpaiguri on Friday morning, triggering panic in the area.

Local residents spotted the body and informed the police.
Empty liquor bottles, cigarette packets and some cash were reportedly found scattered around the body. It is suspected that alcohol may have been consumed at the spot before the incident. However, the exact cause of death and circumstances surrounding the incident will be clear only after the investigation.

Local residents alleged that despite repeated complaints and appeals, drinking and substance-use gatherings have continued in the area. Police have taken the body into custody and are working to establish the identity of the deceased. An investigation is underway.
