Zero Tolerance: Singtam Police Intensify War on Drugs in East Sikkim, Arrest 4 and Send 15 to Rehab

Singtam. 3 March : In a major push to eradicate the growing menace of narcotics, the Singtam Police Station successfully concluded a massive anti-drug campaign throughout February 2026. Spearheaded by Station House Officer (SHO) Kishor Chettri, the month-long initiative balanced strict law enforcement with compassionate community rehabilitation to protect the region's youth and families.

Framing the fight against drugs as a moral obligation rather than just a routine duty, the Singtam police utilized strategic intelligence operations, rigorous inspections, and community collaboration to yield significant results.

Key Highlights of the February Anti-Drug Drive:

Rehabilitation for Users: Taking an empathetic approach toward addiction, police identified and counseled 15 drug users. These individuals were successfully sent to local rehabilitation centers to help them recover and safely reintegrate into society.

Crackdown on Traffickers: Authorities registered two separate drug-related cases, resulting in the arrest of four accused individuals. Investigations and legal proceedings are currently underway.

A Dual Strategy: Enforcement Meets Empathy

SHO Kishor Chettri outlined the police station's uncompromising stance: an absolute zero-tolerance policy against drug peddlers, paired with comprehensive support for the reform of drug users.

"The crackdown against drugs will continue with greater intensity in the coming months," warned Chettri. He assured the public that surprise checks, sustained monitoring, and firm legal actions will be executed without fear or favor. Furthermore, a stern warning was issued to those actively involved in the drug trade to halt their activities immediately or face severe legal consequences.

A Call for Community Action

To ensure a safe, disciplined, and drug-free environment in East Sikkim, the Singtam Police are actively appealing to parents, community leaders, and guardians to collaborate with law enforcement. Officials emphasized that collective community efforts and timely intelligence from the public remain the most powerful tools in dismantling the local narcotics network.
