A 17-year-old student from Class 11 in Rewa district, Madhya Pradesh, has died by suicide, leaving behind a note accusing her schoolteacher of mistreating her during punishment.
The incident has caused shock and concern in the region, raising questions about student safety and discipline methods in schools.
According to police, the student, who studied in a private school, was found hanging at her home on November 16. A handwritten note was recovered from her notebook in which she alleged that her teacher subjected her to physical punishment and inappropriate behaviour. In the note, she claimed that the teacher tightly held her hand while hitting her and challenged her to open his closed fist. She also mentioned that the teacher forced a pen between her fingers as punishment.
The teenager further wrote that the teacher would casually hold her hand while she was seated and commented about his hand being cold.
Her family said she appeared normal at home and had shown no visible signs of emotional distress. They believe she may have been under severe stress due to mistreatment at school and have requested authorities to investigate her call records and school interactions to determine what led to the tragedy.
Additional Superintendent of Police Aarti Singh stated that the investigation is underway and all aspects of the case, including the note and the family’s allegations, are being closely examined.
