🚨 ALERT: Govt Warns of AI-Powered Cyber Frauds Targeting Bank Accounts 🚨
The Centre has issued a fresh advisory on a growing cyber threat where criminals are using Artificial Intelligence to bypass security systems and target India's financial infrastructure. ⚠️
🔎 According to the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, cybercriminals are now using AI to create realistic deepfake videos and synthetic identities to fool facial authentication, KYC verification and account security systems.
📱 How the fraud works:
Fraudsters first make contact through social media, job portals, dating apps or phone calls. They then trick victims into simple actions on camera, like blinking or speaking, to secretly capture facial data which is later misused.
🛡️ What you should do:
✅ Never share videos or selfies with unknown callers or strangers online
✅ Protect your biometric and personal data
✅ Stay alert to suspicious calls, links and job offers
✅ Report any fraud immediately at cybercrime.gov.in or call 1930
The government has also urged banks and financial institutions to strengthen their deepfake detection systems.
