Vaishali, Bihar, June 03 : A court in Bihar's Vaishali district has brought closure to a decades-old attempted murder case, sentencing an 85-year-old convict to three years in prison nearly 34 years after the incident occurred.
The judgment was delivered on Tuesday by Additional District and Sessions Judge Manoj Kumar Tiwari. The court awarded a three-year jail term to the main accused, Deepa Rai, while four other convicts were sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment each.
The accused had been found guilty on May 26, with the court reserving its order on sentencing until this week. The announcement drew significant public attention at the Vaishali Civil Court complex, where many gathered to witness the conclusion of the long-pending case.
