CBI Arrests Former Judge Giribala Singh in Twisha Sharma Dowry Death Case After Bail Cancelled
New Delhi, May 28 : The investigation into the death of former model and actor Twisha Sharma intensified on Thursday when the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested her mother-in-law, retired judge Giribala Singh, in Bhopal.
The arrest happened a day after the Madhya Pradesh High Court revoked Singh’s anticipatory bail in the high-profile dowry death case. CBI officials took her into custody from her home in the Bag Mughaliya area after several hours of questioning.
Twisha Sharma was found dead at her marital home in Bhopal earlier this month. This led to accusations of dowry harassment, cruelty, and mental torture against her husband and in-laws. The case gained national attention, prompting a CBI takeover of the investigation.
The High Court withdrew Giribala Singh’s bail after investigators raised concerns about potential evidence tampering and attempts to sway the investigation. Court documents also mentioned WhatsApp messages, injury marks, and testimonies related to the harassment claims.
The CBI has named Twisha’s husband Samarth Singh and Giribala Singh in its FIR under sections concerning dowry death and cruelty. Samarth Singh is also being investigated in the case.
