Delhi Enforces Tough Anti-Pollution Rules: No PUC, No Fuel Policy Takes Effect

New Delhi, Dec 18 : Delhi has rolled out a fresh set of stringent measures to combat rising air pollution levels, tightening enforcement across the city. The new crackdown aims to reduce vehicular emissions and ease traffic congestion, which are major contributors to poor air quality.

One of the key steps includes the “No PUC, No Fuel” rule, under which vehicles without a valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate will be denied fuel at petrol pumps. Authorities are urging motorists to ensure their emission certificates are updated to avoid inconvenience.

To further cut down daily traffic, the government has reintroduced 50 percent Work From Home (WFH) for both private and government offices. This move is expected to significantly reduce the number of vehicles on the roads during peak hours.

Additionally, Delhi has imposed a ban on the entry of **outside BS-VI vehicles, tightening checks at border points to limit external pollution sources. On the technology front, innovative solutions are also being explored. The IIT Madras-developed “smog-eating” technology is being tested as a potential tool to absorb harmful pollutants from the air.

In collaboration with Google Maps, traffic management strategies are being enhanced to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow across the capital. Officials say these combined efforts are crucial to tackling the pollution crisis and safeguarding public health.

Residents are advised to stay updated on the new rules and verify their vehicle compliance as Delhi steps up its fight against air pollution.
