From No Mobile to a Perfect 300: Meet Om Prakash Behera, the IIT-JEE Main 2025 Topper Fuelled by Pure Determination
In a world dominated by smartphones and social media, where constant connectivity often blurs the line between productivity and distraction, one boy’s story stands out as a beacon of unwavering focus and inspiring discipline.
Meet Om Prakash Behera from Odisha, the topper of IIT-JEE Main 2025, who scored a jaw-dropping 300 out of 300—and did so without even owning a mobile phone.
At a time when a mobile device is considered a basic necessity, Om Prakash’s decision to do away with it completely was not just rare, but revolutionary. “I made a conscious choice to stay off social media,” he shares, calling it a major source of distraction. His goal was clear: to crack one of India’s toughest entrance exams with sheer dedication, and he did just that.
Om Prakash attributes his success to three pillars—methodical self-study, consistent discipline, and sharp self-analysis. “Weekly test marks often went up and down, but I never got disheartened. After every test, I evaluated my mistakes and focused on avoiding them in the next one,” he recalls with clarity.
For study material, he kept things simple and strong—NCERT books were his foundation. Rather than chasing every resource, he mastered the basics and built his concepts thoroughly.
His journey unfolded in Kota, the coaching hub of India, with solid emotional support from his family. His mother, a college instructor in Odisha, stayed with him throughout, while his father, an Odisha Administrative Services officer, encouraged him constantly from home.
“This result is not the destination. It’s just the beginning,” says Om Prakash, who now aspires to pursue Computer Science Engineering at IIT Bombay. His story isn’t just about academic excellence—it’s a living example of what perseverance, simplicity, and smart strategy can achieve.
In Om’s words: “Overthinking failures won’t help. Learn from them, stay focused, and move forward with hope.”
