Japan Unveils ‘Mirai Human Washing Machine’ That Washes and Dries a Person in Just 15 Minutes
Japan has unveiled a futuristic “Mirai Human Washing Machine” that can completely wash, rinse, dry, and relax a person within just 15 minutes. Developed by Japanese company Science Inc., the advanced spa-pod comes with a hefty price tag of around 60 million yen, which is approximately ₹5 crore.
The machine gained massive attention after being showcased at the Osaka–Kansai Expo earlier this year. Due to overwhelming public interest, the company has now started its commercial production.
According to the manufacturer, the machine is designed not only to cleanse the body but also to rejuvenate the mind. Using micro-bubble technology, it cleans deep into the skin, while relaxing music and mood-based visual displays help provide mental calm and relaxation.
The concept is inspired by the “Ultrasonic Bath” developed by Sanyo Electric for the 1970 Osaka Expo. The original prototype is still on display at the Panasonic Museum.
The upgraded Mirai Pod was presented at Expo 2025, where over 40,000 people applied for trial use, prompting the company to fast-track its commercial release.
The machine completes the entire process of washing, rinsing, drying, and relaxation in just 15 minutes. It continuously monitors the user’s heart rate, breathing, and stress levels in real time and automatically adjusts water flow, temperature, and visuals accordingly.
The pod measures 2.5 meters in length, 1 meter in width, and 2.6 meters in height, and features a futuristic cockpit-style design.
As the initial units are being handcrafted, the company plans to produce only 40–50 units for now. A luxury hotel in Osaka has already purchased the first unit, while Tokyo-based Yamada Denki has also bought one for its flagship showroom.
Several resorts and technology companies outside Japan have also expressed interest in purchasing the machine.
