Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Kicks Off from Nathula, Sikkim
Gangtok, June 20 : The annual Kailash Mansarovar Yatra officially began today from Nathula, Sikkim, with the first batch of 36 pilgrims flagged off by Governor Om Prakash Mathur. This spiritual journey, highly revered by devotees, will see a total of ten batches embarking from Nathula this year.
Each group is expected to complete the sacred pilgrimage in 11 to 12 days. Throughout the arduous journey, pilgrims will be accompanied by dedicated doctors and government officials, ensuring their safety and well-being. While most of the travel will be by bus, pilgrims will also undertake walking sections as part of the yatra.
The pilgrimage route involves two significant circumambulations: the Kailash parikrama, which takes place at an altitude of nearly 17,000 feet, followed by the Mansarovar parikrama at 15,000 feet.
