Karnataka SIR 2026: Nearly One Crore Voters Removed From Final Electoral Roll

Bengaluru, October 27: Karnataka's final electoral roll, published on Tuesday following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), shows a reduction of nearly one crore registered voters, raising concerns over the scale of exclusions.

According to the Chief Electoral Officer's office, the state's electorate has declined from approximately 5.54 crore before the revision to around 4.55 crore. More than 1.07 crore names were excluded during the initial enumeration process, primarily under categories including absent, shifted, deceased and duplicate voters.

The final electoral roll includes approximately 2.25 crore male voters, 2.29 crore female voters and 2,841 third-gender electors. More than 6.83 lakh registered voters belong to the 18–19 age group.

The extensive revision exercise has also drawn attention following allegations of wrongful deletions. Election authorities have advised voters to verify their names in the updated electoral rolls and approach the concerned officials if discrepancies are found.
