Mamata Banerjee Responsible for Removal of 27 Lakh Names from Voter List During SIR: Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari blamed former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for the removal of around 27 lakh names from the state’s voter list during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), while defending the Election Commission.

On Sunday, Suvendu Adhikari held Mamata Banerjee responsible for the removal of approximately 27 lakh names from the state’s electoral roll during the SIR process. He said that neither the BJP nor the Election Commission could be held responsible for the deletion of these names.

Adhikari claimed that the deletions were carried out by judicial officers in accordance with directions issued by the Supreme Court in connection with a case filed by Banerjee herself.

His remarks came amid the ongoing political controversy surrounding the SIR process, as he defended the role of the Election Commission.
