Pune, June 28: In a major step forward in the Ketan Agarwal murder investigation, Pune Rural Police on Sunday took prime accused Siya Goyal back to Lohagad Fort — the scene of the crime — to recreate the sequence of events that led to the death of 26-year-old businessman Ketan Agarwal on June 18.
The reconstruction exercise, conducted in the presence of senior police officers and the investigation team, was carried out using a dummy made to match the exact weight of the victim.
DSP Gajanan Tompe, who led the exercise, confirmed the development to news agency ANI. "This morning, we brought Siya Goyal to the location, and the scene was reconstructed based on her account of the events. We created a dummy of the same weight as the victim Ketan for scene reconstruction," he said.
Pune Rural Police Superintendent of Police (SP) Sandeep Singh Gill further elaborated on the scope of the exercise. "We are recreating the whole sequence — where they sat, what they did, how the incident unfolded, the route they took, and every detail given by the accused. This will help us understand and verify the sequence of events," Gill told ANI.
During the exercise, Siya was asked to retrace the exact route she and Ketan had taken on the day of the incident, and to identify the specific spot from where Agarwal was allegedly pushed from the cliff. The reconstruction was aimed at cross-checking the statements made by both accused against physical evidence, CCTV footage, and other material gathered during the probe.
Meanwhile, Lonavala Rural Police seized the two-wheeler belonging to co-accused Chetan Chaudhary, which was allegedly used by him to travel from Pune to Lohagad Fort on the day of the incident. Authorities also recovered the hoodie and headphones Chetan was wearing that day. A forensic examination has been conducted on both the vehicle and the seized clothing.
Notably, Chetan Chaudhary was not taken to the fort on Sunday. Police confirmed he will be taken to Lohagad Fort separately for a similar reconstruction exercise.
Both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary were arrested on June 23 and are currently in seven-day police custody, which expires on June 29. Following the scene recreation, Siya was taken to Lonavala Police Station as the investigation continues.
The case has drawn significant national attention. The Maharashtra government has approved a fast-track court for the trial and appointed senior advocate and Rajya Sabha MP Ujjwal Nikam as Special Public Prosecutor.
