NEET-UG 2026 Cancelled Amid Paper Leak Row, CBI Probe Ordered
New delhi, May 12 : The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2026, conducted on May 3 for lakhs of medical aspirants across the country, has been cancelled following serious allegations of a paper leak linked to Rajasthan. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has now been directed to probe the matter as concerns over examination integrity continue to grow nationwide.
The controversy erupted after Rajasthan Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) began investigating a “guess paper” that reportedly contained a large number of questions matching the actual NEET-UG examination paper. Investigators suspect that the paper may have been circulated among students before the exam.
According to reports, the leaked material allegedly included more than 100 questions similar to those asked in the Biology and Chemistry sections of the examination. Authorities are also probing a possible interstate network linked to the circulation of the paper.
The Rajasthan SOG has detained several individuals in connection with the case, while digital evidence, WhatsApp circulation trails, and coaching-related links are being examined.
Earlier, the National Testing Agency (NTA) had maintained that the examination was conducted under strict security arrangements, including biometric verification, GPS-tracked transport of question papers, AI-assisted CCTV surveillance, and 5G jammers at centres.
However, with mounting pressure from students, parents, and political leaders, the Centre has now handed over the case to the CBI for a detailed investigation. The cancellation of the exam has triggered uncertainty among lakhs of aspirants awaiting results and further announcements regarding a fresh examination schedule.
The incident has once again raised serious questions about the security and transparency of competitive examinations in India.
