Pakistan's Army Chief Asim Munir Mocked for Presenting Misleading Image to PM Shehbaz Sharif
Pakistan’s Army Field Marshal Asim Munir has once again become the subject of online mockery—this time for gifting a misleading image to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, claiming it depicted Pakistan’s Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos against India.
The image in question, framed and presented during a high-profile dinner, was touted as a portrayal of Pakistani military prowess. However, eagle-eyed netizens quickly identified the picture as a 2019 photograph from a Chinese military drill, not a Pakistani operation.
The dinner, hosted by Field Marshal Munir, was organized to celebrate the resilience and commitment of the country’s armed forces. During the event, the controversial painting was handed over to PM Sharif as a token of appreciation.
Attended by the highest political and military brass—including President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Senate Chairman Yusuf Raza Gilani—the event was intended to project unity and strength. Instead, it sparked ridicule online, raising questions about authenticity and optics in Pakistan’s military-political engagements.
