Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a new global record for the most views on an Instagram Reel within 24 hours, with a video surpassing 303 million views.
This clip broke the previous record of 300 million, making it the most-watched Reel in the platform's history for a single day.
Posted on Thursday night, the video focused on the government's plans to tackle paper leaks and improve the examination system, an issue that has sparked ongoing student protests across the country. It resonated widely, receiving over 16 million likes, 1.5 million comments, and nearly a million new followers for the PM's account within hours.
The next day, Modi shared a follow-up Reel to thank viewers, especially young people, for their engagement and feedback. He expressed gratitude for their response and constructive suggestions, hoping to keep building his connection with the audience.
The record he broke was previously held by internet personality IShowSpeed, whose Reel featuring a meeting with BTS during the FIFA World Cup drew 300 million views in 24 hours.
This milestone comes amid ongoing student protests over alleged leaks in competitive exam papers. In the original video, Modi mentioned that his government was working on legislation to establish fast-track courts for paper leak cases and promised swift action against those responsible.
