Satellite Images Capture Two Giant Monsoon Systems Drenching India
Fresh satellite images released by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) have revealed two massive monsoon weather systems stretching across the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, triggering widespread rainfall across several parts of the country.
The images, captured by the INSAT-3DR weather satellite, show towering cloud formations feeding moisture into the Indian mainland.
While the Arabian Sea system is bringing heavy downpours to Maharashtra and adjoining regions, the Bay of Bengal system is driving intense rainfall over West Bengal and parts of eastern India.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), these active monsoon systems are expected to keep the southwest monsoon vigorous over the coming days, with heavy to very heavy rainfall likely in several states.
Authorities have advised residents in vulnerable areas to remain alert as localized flooding, waterlogging, and travel disruptions are possible.
The INSAT-3DR satellite plays a crucial role in monitoring India's weather round the clock, providing real-time data on cloud movement, rainfall intensity, storms, and atmospheric conditions to help improve weather forecasting and disaster preparedness.
