Sikkim Skill University (SSU) has refuted allegations circulating online, calling them false, unverified, and based on a fabricated complaint.

According to the University, verification revealed that the Aadhaar details of an unsuspecting labourer were misused by unidentified individuals to create the complaint. The university stated that legal measures, including criminal and civil defamation proceedings, have already begun.

The statement further criticised a member of the opposition for making public accusations without verification, adding that such remarks have caused distress to students, faculty, and staff while also damaging the institution’s reputation.

SSU clarified that it has legally initiated the process to acquire more than 10 acres of land in Namthang to develop a modern private university campus. The matter is currently under review by the relevant authorities and is progressing as per legal procedures.

The university appealed to the public to avoid spreading misinformation, stating that such actions affect the safety, dignity, and mental well-being of the university community. SSU reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, academic excellence, and the welfare of students and staff.
