Swift Action Averts Major Blaze at Pachey Dara in Pakyong
Pakyong, 13 Feb : A sudden fire erupted at around 12:40 PM today in Pachey Dara, located above the Pakyong DAC area, reportedly triggered by prolonged dry weather and rising temperatures. The incident created concern among nearby residents as flames quickly spread across the affected area.
Acting without delay, SDM (HQ) Thendup Lepcha alerted DPO Pakyong T.R. Chettri, ensuring that emergency protocols were activated immediately. The Fire Department, along with the PHE Department and the Power Department, was promptly informed to take necessary measures and prevent further escalation.
In addition, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was mobilized to provide reinforcement and technical support during the operation.
Two young monks played a commendable role from the outset, actively assisting responders in controlling the blaze. Their early involvement reflected strong community spirit during the emergency.
Owing to the rapid coordination between government agencies, Pakyong DAC officials, and local residents, the fire was successfully contained and fully extinguished before it could cause major damage. Authorities have credited the joint efforts for preventing what could have turned into a larger disaster.
