Telangana ACB Goes After Corruption: 273 Arrested, 199 Cases Filed in 2025

Telangana , 1 Jan : The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) intensified its crackdown on corruption during 2025, registering 199 cases and arresting 273 individuals, including a large number of public servants, as revealed in its annual report.

A major share of the cases comprised 157 trap operations, in which officials were caught red-handed while accepting bribes. These operations led to the arrest of 224 accused persons, including 176 government employees. In addition, the ACB registered 15 cases related to disproportionate assets and 26 other cases involving criminal misconduct, resulting in 34 more arrests.

Beyond direct enforcement, the bureau conducted 26 regular inquiries and carried out 54 surprise inspections at government offices such as sub-registrar offices, RTA check posts, and welfare hostels across Telangana. During the year, the ACB also secured 115 prosecution sanctions from the government and filed charge sheets in multiple cases.

Trap cases during 2025 led to the seizure of Rs 57.17 lakh as bribe money, of which Rs 35.89 lakh was returned to complainants. Investigations into disproportionate assets revealed properties worth over Rs 96 crore allegedly owned by accused officials.

To strengthen prevention and public involvement, the ACB focused on training its personnel and introduced a QR code-based complaint system to help citizens, particularly in remote areas, report corruption easily. Awareness campaigns, rallies, and public outreach programmes were also conducted throughout the year.

The Telangana ACB’s sustained efforts underline its commitment to transparency and accountability in public administration, while urging citizens to report bribery demands through toll-free numbers and official platforms.
