THE SEVEN APPEALS BY PM - POINT BY POINT

1. Reduce Fuel Consumption
Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens to cut down fuel usage by opting for public transport, carpooling, and remote working wherever possible. He noted that several Asian nations are also encouraging fuel conservation amid rising global energy costs.

2. Adopt Work From Home
Modi encouraged companies and individuals to prefer virtual meetings over physical gatherings and revive the work-from-home culture that became common during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to him, reducing daily travel can significantly lower fuel consumption.

3. Limit Gold Purchases
The Prime Minister appealed to people to avoid excessive gold buying for at least one year. India imported nearly $72 billion worth of gold during the 2025–26 financial year, making it the world’s second-largest gold importer after China.

4. Avoid Non-Essential Foreign Travel
Modi also advised citizens to reduce unnecessary spending abroad, including foreign vacations and destination weddings. Reports suggest that around 32.7 million Indians travelled overseas in 2025, including over 14 million leisure travellers.

5. Reduce Edible Oil Consumption
Calling it both a healthy and patriotic step, Modi urged families to cut down edible oil consumption. India imports a large quantity of edible oil every year, adding pressure on the country’s import expenditure.

6. Farmers Asked to Reduce Chemical Fertiliser Use
The Prime Minister appealed to farmers to reduce chemical fertiliser usage by up to 50 percent and adopt natural farming methods. He also promoted the use of solar-powered irrigation pumps instead of diesel-run systems to lower costs, improve soil health, and reduce carbon emissions.

7. Go ‘Vocal for Local’ — Buy Indian Products
Modi urged people to prioritise Indian-made products, from daily-use items to larger consumer goods. He said supporting domestic products would strengthen local industries, generate employment, boost small businesses, and reduce dependence on imports.
