UP Woman Marries Man She Tied Rakhi to for 15 Years; Family Declares Her Dead, Performs Last Rites
Prayagraj, UP, Oct 1 : In an unusual family dispute, 20-year-old Nandani Pandey married 22-year-old Shashwat Gupta, whom she had reportedly tied Rakhi to for nearly 15 years, according to her family.
The couple left home on September 20 and subsequently married. Angered by the decision, Nandani's family severed ties with her, declared her symbolically dead and performed her last rites.
However, Nandani maintained that the marriage was consensual, rejected her family's allegations and appealed to relatives not to harass the newlyweds.
