Vrindavan, October 17 : The renowned spiritual leader Premanand Maharaj of Vrindavan is reportedly battling serious health issues due to kidney failure. According to reports, both of Maharaj’s kidneys have stopped functioning, and he has been on daily dialysis for several years.
Despite several devotees offering to donate their kidneys, Maharaj politely declined, saying he did not wish to cause pain to anyone. In one of his recent videos, he was seen saying, “Both my kidneys have failed, and there’s nothing left to cure. Whether today or tomorrow, I will have to go.” The emotional statement has deeply saddened his followers.
Recently, a video of Maharaj with a visibly swollen and reddish face and trembling voice went viral, sparking widespread concern among his devotees. Following this, the Shri Hit Radha Keli Kunj family issued a statement clarifying that Premanand Maharaj is stable and continues his daily spiritual routine. Authorities also urged the public not to spread rumors about his health.
Diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease
Doctors have confirmed that Maharaj suffers from Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) — a hereditary condition that causes fluid-filled cysts to develop inside the kidneys, gradually impairing their ability to filter blood. Maharaj was diagnosed with this illness several years ago.
According to Professor Dr. B.P.S. Tyagi, Maharaj once underwent medical tests in Delhi after experiencing abdominal pain, where it was discovered that both his kidneys were severely damaged. Doctors had then warned that his life expectancy might be limited to two to three years. However, Maharaj accepted the diagnosis with calmness, saying, “Everything in life is as per God’s will.”
“Radha” and “Krishna” — The Names of His Kidneys
Demonstrating his deep devotion and positivity, Premanand Maharaj has affectionately named his two kidneys “Radha” and “Krishna.” Dr. Tyagi said that Maharaj’s unwavering faith and optimistic mindset are his greatest strengths in enduring the illness.
