What Did Tukaram Mundhe Say After HC Fined FDA ₹5 Lakh Over Action Against Sweet Shop?

Following the Bombay High Court’s ₹5 lakh fine on the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) over its action against Pune-based Guru Nanak Sweets, FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe termed the case “surprising.”

Mundhe said the action was taken in connection with a food-poisoning incident in which several people who consumed the sweets were hospitalised. He maintained that the FDA’s action was justified and that there was nothing wrong with the department’s response.

He added that further action would be decided after the High Court’s detailed written order is received.
