Woman Allegedly Attempts Knife Attack on Mamata Banerjee Outside Kolkata Residence; TMC Files Complaint

Kolkata, October 14: Former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reportedly faced an attempted attack outside her Kalighat residence on Tuesday evening when a woman allegedly approached her carrying a knife.

According to a complaint filed by Trinamool Congress MP Dola Sen, the incident occurred around 6 pm as Banerjee was attending a Durga Puja event in her neighbourhood. The woman allegedly pulled at Banerjee's saree, shouted abuses and claimed to be her niece.

TMC workers intervened and handed the woman over to police. The party raised serious concerns over the security of Banerjee, who enjoys Z-plus protection, and demanded a thorough investigation.

Kolkata Police confirmed the woman's detention but did not independently confirm the alleged knife attack. Investigations are underway. No injuries were reported.
