ITBP’s All-Women Everest Team Makes History, Summits the World’s Highest Peak

New Delhi, May 23 : India’s Indo-Tibetan Border Police just pulled off something big—an all-women mountaineering team has climbed Mount Everest. This isn’t just a win for the ITBP’s adventure program; it’s a huge step for women leading the way in some of the toughest jobs out there.

Bhanita Timungpi, the officer in charge, led her team all the way to the 8,848-meter summit after weeks battling unpredictable weather, cold, and thin air. The journey officially started when Director General Shatrujeet Kapur sent the team off from ITBP headquarters in New Delhi.

They took the tough South Col route, and on May 21, the team reached the top, where they planted the Indian flag against a backdrop of ice and clouds. That moment captured everything—courage, teamwork, and the kind of determination you have to feel to believe.

This isn’t just about climbing. ITBP wants more women to take on high-stress, high-altitude roles, and this mission proves just how ready they are. The force already has more than 230 summits under its belt, including past trips to Everest.

The news spread quickly, with social media full of pride and congratulations. People are calling it a landmark moment, and it really is. It’s another reminder that with hard work and the right support, women can lead teams anywhere—even to the top of the world.
