Smriti Mandhana Appointed New Captain of Indian Women’s Cricket Team

Smriti Mandhana has been appointed the new captain of the Indian women’s cricket team, succeeding Harmanpreet Kaur, who stepped down from the leadership role earlier on Tuesday.

Expressing her gratitude, Mandhana said, “To be given the responsibility of leading India is a very special honour.”

The 30-year-old left-handed batter has previously led India on several occasions in Harmanpreet Kaur’s absence. Mandhana also captains Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Women’s Premier League (WPL).
